Safer Sea Kayaking – Essential Strategies

A refreshing and considered approach to safer sea kayaking –
for leaders, coaches & all sea kayaking group members!

This 1- or 2-day workshop is excellent for paddlers at all levels of
experience and takes a fresh look at safer sea kayaking principles.

We tailor each course to aims and abilities of participants, with a
focus on the following key areas:

  • A dynamic, flexible, robust approach to group safety afloat
  • An exploration of group dynamics of sea kayaking parties
  • An examination of underlying challenges / traps for sea kayak groups – & their solutions
  • A focus on effective group management strategies when dealing with incidents

This workshop is mainly practical, with a 70/30%  balance between practical afloat / discussion ashore sessions.

Course content supports best practice, in line with current research into decision making, risk management, and avoidance of heuristic traps.

Our Safer Sea Kayaking workshop addresses key concerns for guides and leaders in formal situations, lead paddlers in informal groups, and novel issues for peer groups.

The course is available for groups wishing to make a collective
booking – at a level and in environments best suited to individual needs.
